Flammable goods must not be stored in any club sheds, buildings, or facilities. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Fuel (petrol, diesel, mixed fuels)
• Paints, thinners, solvents, and resins
• Gas cylinders, aerosols, and other flammable or combustible materials
The storage of such materials club buildings was Identified by the Australian Sailing representative as a requirement for us achieving a Discover Sailing Centre status as it presents an unacceptable fire and safety risk to members, volunteers, visitors, and club assets.
The club is currently in the process of procuring a dedicated, compliant storage solution for fuel used in the club’s safety boat jerry cans. This will provide a long-term and appropriate arrangement for that specific operational requirement.
Other than this future facility, no flammable goods are to be stored at the club under any circumstances.
Members who currently have fuel, paint, or any other flammable materials stored within club facilities are required to remove these items immediately.
This direction is provided in the interests of safety, risk management, and the club’s ongoing compliance obligations. Your cooperation is appreciated and essential to maintaining a safe environment for everyone who uses the club.
